Afomia Hunde

Afomia Hunde is a climate infrastructure strategist, architectural designer, and urban systems thinker whose work bridges the built environment, climate resilience, and urban transformation. Originally from Ethiopia, she brings a globally informed and interdisciplinary perspective to the relationship between infrastructure, environmental change, and the future of cities, with a particular interest in how design, policy, and implementation can shape more adaptive and equitable urban systems. She earned her Master in Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2025.

Her experience spans architecture, sustainability, climate innovation, and infrastructure strategies across public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Afomia has contributed to climate risk analysis, urban resilience planning, housing and development feasibility, and decarbonization initiatives through work across design, research, and climate-focused organizations in Boston and New York. Her work integrates spatial design, systems thinking, and cross-sector collaboration to address complex environmental and urban challenges, including the intersection of climate, migration, public health, and the built environment.

Afomia is a Climatebase Fellow, United People Global Sustainability Leader, FXB Climate Advocate, and former President of Africa GSD. Her leadership and research focus on advancing interdisciplinary dialogue around climate adaptation, infrastructure, and the future of the built environment through engagement with designers, policymakers, institutions, and community stakeholders.

As HACE’s Co-Director of Communications, Afomia helps amplify dialogue, partnerships, and collective action around climate and environmental challenges.
