Morgan Thompson

Morgan is founding Co-Director of Connecting Genetics to Climate, a new initiative launched in 2023 from the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, that works to empower decision-making about emerging genetic technologies applied to climate challenges, informed by evidence and the questions communities have. Morgan is also a qualified teacher in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction and is interested in how mindful and somatic approaches can scaffold planetary well-being. Morgan received a PhD in genetics from Harvard in 2012.

Morgan is a 4th generation US immigrant/settler with working class – maker, grower, builder – ancestral roots in southeast Michigan – lands of the Meškwahki·aša·hina (Fox), Peoria, Myaamia, Mississauga, Bodwéwadmi (Potawatomi), Anishinabewaki, Wyandot peoples. Morgan currently lives in a semi-rural, agricultural region of Connecticut – lands of the Nipmuc(k) peoples. Morgan enjoys cooking, gardening, paddling, and outdoor and craft activities with friends, family, and community.
